I was given False information by the agent

I entered no one's name in because it says not to enter mine, so I figured I would keep the people involved name out aswell. But I have all that information.

I first went to Advent Product Development with a friend of mine with a great Idea. I signed up with an agent who told me I can pay half of the sum for Phase 1 then pay the other half after the book (containing all the information of the research done) comes back, and if me and my partner liked what we saw, we could pay the other half and continue to phase 2. He also said if we didnt like what we saw, he would call corporate and try to get our money back. After about a month of not hearing from him, I then called the office where the agent I signed up with worked and another employee told me he was fired, so I mentioned the terms and conditions which we agreed upon and he said Advent doesnt work upon those terms. I then called the agent who I had signed up with through his cell phone and he told me that the person who gave me the information about him being fired was false and he was a "fool". My agent also told me that he had just transfered offices. So while talking to my agent, I told him I would like to check out the book as we agreed upon then I would make my decision to go to phase 2, and he told me it wont be possible, so I continued the conversation with him about him giving me false information and he apologized and thought I would be able to look at the book before paying the other half. So already I knew something was fishy, and I told my agent I just want my money back, and he said he can try his best to get his money back but if not, he can call corporate and cancle the contract and therefor I would owe no more money. (Which didnt sound half bad, I was willing to take the loss of the half of payment for phase 1 while recieving nothing because I have creditors calling me asking for money and I dont want to ruin my good credit) My agent told me he would call me back and let me know what the verdict was once he spoke to corporate. I never got a call back and in about a week I called his office back, and they told me he was fired. I tried his cell phone and it was disconnected. I told Advent the deal me and my agent had struck, and he said we dont do anything like that, and you have to pay the other half and hung up on me. I called back again and he continued to insult me for no reason saying "He hates dealing with people like me".. Maybe cause im not so foolish? Well I tried calling corporate my self, and the creditors they put on me, and everyone keeps sending me in circles. I never get call backs when im told I will, and I was ripped off, and Advent as a company who hired someone and fired them twice allowed them to do business with me, who gave me false information, and dont want anything to do about it. I'd like some legal help if available, id suggest NO ONE DO BUSINESS WITH ADVENT unless you want to loose your money.
