Illed me for $600! After six MONTHS of cancellation!

So last january i was at school signing up for my spring courses when i get a call from this rep. She was calling from area circulation and had this great offer and told me that she was calling in connection to my credit card and that i was entered into a sweepstakes just for carrying a visa. She talked very fast about all sorts of offers and i JUST NEEDED TO GET OFF THE PHONE!

So i called back shortly after and asked her to re-explain the who what and why's of this call. So again she began speaking very quickly and told me that she already had my name and knew my card number was a visa. A little strange i thought. She told me i could think about the offer and she would send me a list of all the magazine titles i could choose from and i could send it in to recieve my new subscription, and my free gift. Of course i never got anything.

So i recieved the notice about a week and a half later and i go through the list of titles perusing each and over the details of the contract and realized that i am trying to get by just in my payments for school and rent. I can't afford to pay $74 a month!!! So i flipped the page over signed the cancellation form in the little box in the corner and mailed it off. I took care of it i thought and thats that.

A couple of days later the calls start. Two even three times a day. All for the same thing free gift if i want to add three more titles to my account! Limited offer. I told each and every operator i spoke with that i had sent in a cancellation for my account. They assured me that they were sorry and it just can take some time to process. Then they would hang up politley. It got so ridiculous i had to register my phone number on a national do not call list. Than later i recieve my bank statement. Not only has my account not been cancelled. THEY CHARGED ME! Now tell me if this makes sense. It has been ten months.

I've called several times to cancell the account and the told me i could not even though i sent in the cancellation form before the magazines started arriving. Few weeks later my wallet was stolen and i changed all my card numbers because someone was trying to steal my identity. I got a call saying that the charge for my magazine subscriptions could not go through. I told the rep very specifically that it was because i should no longer have an account with them. At this point it was becoming ridiculous.

Soon i start recieving bills for $200 than $300 than $693 dollars! They stated because they had already paid the magazines i was now obligated to endorse them. I told them that i didn't request the magazine in the first place. Especially since only one or two of them come through every month. I have emailed these people, talked to them argued with them, but not one seems able TO JUST TAKE CARE OF IT!!!

This incompetence has driven me up a wall, and is something i can no longer stand to deal with. I am doing my best just to build a life for myself and these reasons are exactly why i cancelled the subscription in the first place.
