Put Collection for bad debt that doesn't belong to me on ALL 3 major credit bureaus

Approximately 2 weeks ago I received a collection letter in the mail from NCO Financial Systems, inc. Stating that I owed $2197.71 for a Power bill in New Jersey and a power bill in Ohio. The said that I could settle the debt with paying 65% of the total balance due. I ignored the letter as it contained false information. I have never lived in the state of New Jersey, nor do I know anyone in the state of New Jersey. The other power company that they have listed as me owing money to is my current provider and find it really hard to believe that they would be supplying a service to me if I hadn't paid a past debt.

I did some investigating of my own and called the power company in New Jersey direct. After being on hold for 1 hour I spoke with a woman regarding the debt I was accused of owing. After giving my SS# to her she pulled up an account that belonged to a business that I had never heard of. I have clearly been a victim of identity theft by a company in Paterson, New Jersey by the name of Health Guard labs, inc.

I have now had to take time off of work to contact the credit bureaus and place a Fraud alert on my credit, Send out a certified letter to NCO and File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

My real concern now, after reading all of the other reports on the ripoff website, is that NCO is not going to remove this from my credit!

NCO has this bad collection debt on all 3 of the major credit bureaus and it is NOT mine.
