Inovision-Ncop - Merlin contracted GPU account out to Pinnacle Financial Pinnacle settled with me for half 415.57. NCO kept the money and won't report to credit bureaus or GPU

My husband owed an electric bill to GPU for 831.14, which we were not financially able to pay. They in turn turned it over to collection with NCO. We still could not pay. On June 18, my husband received a letter from Pinnacle financial Group stating that they have obtained their clients permission (Inovision-Ncop) to settle this debt for half. I was to call Pinnacle and make arrangements for payment. I called and made arrangements.

I had to borrow 415.57 from my mother to pay this debt. I paid 229.50 on July 7,93.07 on July 14 and 93.00 on July 28, using my debit card. On August 27, we received a letter from Pinnacle Financial stating the account was a 0 balance and signed by both Pinnacle Financial and NCO. We thought everything was fine at this point.

It was not until we applied for a car loan early in November that we found out that this was not paid and still showed up on my husbands credit report. I have not received the credit reports yet, but the financial institution that denied us was helpful by giving us the reason and stating that it was a collection account with a utility company.

I called Pinnacle, they told me that they were contracted by NCO and that as far as they are concerned the debt is paid. They said that they sent the money to NCO on July 31. I in turn called NCO and they said that Pinnacle bought the accounts and they were responsible.

I asked them to honor the letter I received and they said they would not and further more they said my husband still owed the whole amount, not half. They would not tell me where the money went and that they would not report it as paid to the credit bureaus. I have all documentation.
