Greedy. Non accomodating to repeat customers. Blows off customers

Recently my sunglasses were stolen in the airport. On my return home, I purchased 2 pairs of sunglasses at the Sun Glass Hut.

I asked about the coupon they annually send me that provides $20 off for my birthday and my birthday was about a week away. I was told by the clerk they did not provide such discounts / coupons which didn't make sense since I remembered always receiving one but I accepted his answer.

One week later, Sun Glass Hut sent me a $20 coupon for my birthday.

Three weeks later (after I received the coupon), my sunglasses were stolen again while my back was turned for 30 seconds (I live in Chicago). So I went back to the Sun Glass Hut to replace them. I told the clerk what happened (I reported the incident as well... I am not in the routine of losing glasses) and he again told me he could not give me the $20 off without the coupon.

Fair enough, I went home to look for it after purchasing the glasses but could not find it. Therefore, I wrote to the Sun Glass Hut via email explaining the situation but was given a "we don't believe in customer service" attitude. I spent over $500 dollars there in one month! They could check my birthdate. They told me that coupons only are given at a certain time of year and they did not have any. When I asked about their PR and customer service, they replied they could not reproduce the coupon they had previously sent me.

Normally, under any other circumstance, I would probably not care but their greediness is such a turn off and many companies now a days lack ANY customer service. They did not care if they lost my business or if I told family & friends. I obviously was not trying to scam them and can produce receipts and proof of my birthdate.

These businesses do not care if they lose business & I think people need to start boycotting or shopping in stores that provide service. Our economy needs consumers to start spending money again, but with customer service like this why would I want to deal with jerks.
