Coupon complaint - email coupons

We are frequent Walgreens shoppers, and always shop in the stores each week (not on-line). Our Boerne, TX Walgreens is wonderful. The employees are courteous and helpful, and it is usually well-stocked. My complaint is with a coupon I received through an email this week. It was for $5 off a $30 purchase, or $10 off a $60 purchase. Every time I have received a coupon in the past, it has been good both on line, and in the stores. Wednesday my husband and I visited a San Antonio Walgreens and spent a long time filling up a shopping cart with things we really didn't need in order to use the coupon. At the checkout, we were told that we couldn't use the coupon because it was for on line purchases only. Nowhere on the coupon does it say that. Today I received the exact same coupon through an email, and again, it does not state clerly that it can't be used in the stores. We really appreciate your coupons, but in the future, wish that you would make them more customer-friendly, and clear and easy to read and interpret.
