Southlake is a Southlake kind of place - Southlake deserves competent, honest medical service

I had a mild case of bronchitis. I have had it twice before in the last 5 years and the past 2 times I went to the CARE NOW in Grapevine and they give me a prescription for an antibiotic called Zithromax and I was well in a few days. This time, on my way to CARE NOW, I remembered this place called Emergency Care USA that is about a mile from my house and I stopped in there. I went in and said that I needed a doctor to give me a prescription for an antibiotic. They gave me some papers to sign saying that they are an "emergency room" and asking me to sign some agreements with some very scary language about the rights I was giving up.

At this point I, should have left as fast as possible. I told the person signing me in that I thought I was in the wrong place because I just needed an antibiotic and did not need either an emergency room or a bill the size of an emergnecy room bill. The person singing me in assured me that I was in the right place and that my cost would be a normal cost for a doctor visit. This turned out not to be true.

They billed me for $563 in services. The billed inclded a strep test that I specifically said I did not want. One line item in the bill was $50 for a medicine that Blue Cross says has a reasonable cost of 12 cents. Blue Cross says the maximum allowable charge should have been $126.93 (instead of $563).

In my opinion this place is not a good fit for Southlake because people here treat each other with honesty and respect and do not cheat each other.
