Wal-Mart
Ripoff refuses to pull silver-plated copper wedding bands from Thailand!

Shops, Products, Services

Wal-Mart is currently selling low-quality silver-plated copper wedding bands as solid sterling silver rings. These copper rings are offered in both men and women's styles and are smooth on the outer surface with Thailand and. 925 stamped on the inner surface. The rings are not to be confused with a similar silver wedding band that Wal-Mart sells that is engraved on the outer surface and is made in China. That ring is solid silver.

The rings from Thailand are darker in color than genuine sterling silver, and with common silver polish will rub through to a dark steel coating under the silver plate, then to solid copper underneath the steel. These copper rings, which are in truth worth about $5.00, are deceptively marketed and sold as solid sterling silver at virtually every Wal-Mart in the United States for aproximately $12.00.

Wal-Mart buyers have been notified by store managers about the rings but refuse to remove or label the product truthfully. It is likely that Wal-Mart wants to sell through the current stock of Thai copper wedding bands before there is any serious publicity about their deception. Meanwhile tens of thousands of Wal-Mart consumers are being ripped off. Please help if you can by notifying your local newspaper or television station.
