Business - White Gold Wedding Band

Shops, Products, Services

My fiance was tricked into buying an over-priced, paper thin, $150 white gold wedding band from this business after being told that it was silver. My fiance does not know anything about precious metals, or business practices for that matter... But I do.

He went there with my set, which is sterling silver. He showed it to the woman and told her he needed a silver one similar to it (she is a "jeweler", and my rings are antiqued, and obviously sterling silver). She convinced him into buying a "silver" ring for $148 tax, cash.

When I saw the ring, and he told me how much he paid. I read the inscription, and sure enough, it was white gold. The ring was paper thin (less than a mm) around the back, and unsymmetrical! We went the first thing the next business day to return it. Keep in mind, my poor fiance did not get a receipt, nor was he offered one.

We were there before the business opened at 9:30... 9:45 rolls around, and the woman finally pulls up in her brand new Camaro. It's about 10:00 when she opens the door (the sign said they open at 9:30). He goes in to return the ring, while I stayed in the car. A few seconds later, he came out and told me to come in...

She immediately asks "what do you mean silver"... I said, "silver silver, like sterling silver". She then said "Oh, I thought you meant white gold"... HE SPECIFICALLY SAID SILVER! She then said she had a silver ring, but it would have to be sized. She then offered to "exchange" the white gold for the silver one with a sizing. I asked her how much the sizing costs, and she told me roughly 40 dollars. So, she wanted me to believe that a sterling silver ring (a modest width) was worth over 100 dollars? Her rational was that "the price of all metals is up"... Little did she know, I have priced many silver rings... They all run between 20-50 MAX. I told her that would not do, and we would rather just have our money back. She then said "No, all sales are final and he made a cash deal". I looked around, THAT was not posted anywhere in the business! And a DEAL???!! This ring is of TERRIBLE quality, and the weight alone is NOT worth 150 dollars...

This business has nearly ruined my wedding plans... I am terribly, TERRIBLY upset about the whole matter.
