Mirage Beauty Center
Rip off Salon and Price Gauging Beauty Supply Store. Should lose business and state license!

Shops, Products, Services

In the summer of 1998, when I was 28-years-old, I made the mistake of going to the Mirage Beauty Center because I didn't have the time to go to my regular stylist. I had healthy hair past my shoulders. I asked for a layered haircut. I showed the hairstylist a picture and she assured me she could do the job.

She did a horrible job.instead of layering my hair, she cut part of the back off. As I was paying for my haircut, she said that my hair looked like that because I needed to do a wave.

I was against it because, at that time, I used Punky Colors, a semi-permanent dye on my hair. She assured me it wouldn't do damage.

As I was paying at the moment she suggested to do the wave, I ended up paying for the cut and paying for the wave up front. My hair was ruined.

To not be rude, I even tipped her. I wanted to cry and went home. 5 blocks away, I realized my hair felt like a Brillo pad.

I went back to the salon to complain, but they closed early. The next day, I took time off of work to ask for my money back so my regular stylist could fix my hair. (I had to chop it off).

The man behind the counter said I would get no refund. I told him I didn't see a sign that said no refund. He said he was willing to give me store credit.

Because I demanded my $90 bux back, he threatened to call the police if I didn't leave. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau leaving nothing out.

Got nowhere. The Co. Lied to the BBB. According to the BBB complaint timeline I received, a rep noted that the company's response was as follows:

That I "... Was happy with the perm. She even gave the hair stylist a $10 tip. They spent 3 hours working on her hair."

I protested to the BBB that it actually took 1 hr and 20 minutes to do my hair. That within a half hour after I leaving the beauty salon, I realized it wasn't just a bad job; but that they had actually ruined my hair.

That I immediatly spun the car around and went back to the salon, but that there was a closed sign on the door and all the lights off. That they had closed 1 and 1/2 hours too early. Damaged hair, and then show my own stylist who confirmed that

That I had no choice but to have my friends take pictures of my my hair had been damaged. That she had to cut off all my hair, and I had to face all my coworkers the next day with curly short hair after trying to grow out my hair for three years.

According to the timeline of complaint that the BBB sent me, a rep's notes about the company's final response is as follows:

"... She did not come in until the next day after a stylist from a competing salon said it was a poor job. If there was a particular problem with the client's hair and service, they would gladly have their stylist make any necessary corrections."

Unbeliveable. The BBB suggested I go to small claims and informed me that they would keep my complaint on file for two or three years.

I went to the Beverly Hills Court House to file a claim, but I worked for a finance firm that demanded my time. I couldn't follow up.

I tried to complain to the board that issued their cosmetic license, but I couldn't follow through.

They ruined my hair and stole my money. Never, ever, ever give these people your business. I'm surprised they are still in business.

At that time, the only recourse I had was to complain about them on the internet. Since then, I have posted my story about them wherever I can to warn consumers about them.

I've come here in hopes of saving another person from having to experiencing the terrible customer un-goodwill I exprienced at the Mirage Beauty Center. Not to mention the stress and trauma I suffered.

They really should lose their license.

Thank you for giving me a chance to tell my story and to contribute to the possible disintegration of such a bad business. Hopefully, they'll close their doors when all the complaints rack up.
