Creditreport.com
Freecreditreport.com I cancelled, they confirmed, they charged, I challenged the charge, and they kept charging my credit card. California

Shops, Products, Services

This company is deceptive in practices and is knowingly charging my credit card without authorization.

In chronological order:
In December I tried to go directly to the Equifax site to order my credit report (I stagger my requests: Experian in April, Transunion in August, Equifax in December).

Instead, I was directed to a website which asked for my credit card number. I thought this was odd, but the wording on the website that said there would be no charge to my credit card.

I check charges to my credit card from my online account regularly. I soon saw the charge on my card, I went back to the website and saw additional small print that talked about the $9.95 membership charge. I took IMMEDIATE ACTION and sent the following e-mail:

Subj: Cancel membership
Date: 12/18
To: support@creditreport.com
I just ready your small print which says:
You will be billed $9.95 for each month that you continue your membership if you do not cancel your
membership within the 30 day trial period. You may cancel anytime there is no obligation.
NO WHERE was this CLEARLY represented before I gave you my credit card number. When I hit the button,
the word were to the effect of THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGE.
I never wanted a membership, I only wanted a credit report. You thieving bastards.
No small print here. IMMEDIATELY CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP.

They responded with:

They then charged my credit card on January 16.

I challenged the charge with my credit card company. The charge was credited. THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD AGAIN on the 16th of February. I challenged that charge also.

I emailed them to again request that they stop and included. Pdf copies of all e-mails to prove that I had requested cancellation within the 30 days cited by their terms, and that they can confirmed my cancellation.

They charged my credit card again on the 16th of March.

They obtained my credit card number through deceptive practices, I cancelled according to their cited terms and they are charging my credit card with full knowledege that they do not have my authorization.
