RPM - MCI Worldcom - many years later get a call about false dept Ripoff

I received a call this morning from someone at RPM asking for my wife. I informed that they could talk to me, boy was I in for a surprise!!!

Apparently RPM recently acquired some old MCI accounts or something. Point is it has been 5 years since we were even customers of MCI. It do remember that it was a nightmare though. I also know that we left MCI not owing them a dime.

One of the straws that broke the camel's back at MCI was the billing issues. We had outlandish charges and incorrect statements come to us more than once. We spent hours upon hours with customer support to get all this worked out. At the time I found on the net that I was not the only one with the trouble, some people were even worse off than we were... I digress.

Now 5 years later I've got some dept collector telling me how I need to pay my "court verified" dept. It will be a cold day in Hades before I write them a check for $525 for a dept we DO NOT owe.

What do we do though, this really has me scratching my head? Dealing with dept collectors is something I'm not too familiar with.

In any regards, I hope we have documentation to support our account status with MCI. Given the time span though, we very well may not. Anybody else out there in this boat with me???

Honestly I feel very frustrated currently and although I am not normally a litigious person... It would be nice if there were some recourse I could take against MCI for their continued negative presence in my life.
