Background check ripoff

I requested a background check of a predatory female that had taken financial advantage of my father-in-law. Following is the complaint I filed with Intelius after receiving an totally insufficient background report given the information suggested they could provide:

Subject: Billing - Background Check
Question: On the referenced background check, the amount of information provided was much less than expected. I chose Donna % with a relative (daughter) Ashley % from??? LA which I know to be factual. I expected marriage records (former husbands), relatives (mother, father, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, etc), employers, creditors (credit cards, banks loans, etc), and criminal information from the Sabine parish courthouse (Many, LA) rather than criminal checks relative to the small town zip code in??? LA.

I used your service because of a referral from a previous customer who had indicated the wealth of background information your service revealed, but have found the information provided for the $45 fee to be extremely insufficient. Please provide additional information or credit the $44.96 for this transaction to my account.

I received the following email response from Intelius:

Hello! Thank you for contacting the Intelius customer service team! You can reach customer service at (425) 974-6100. We are open from 6:30 AM-4:30 PM PST Monday through Friday. We will be happy to assist you when you call.

Why do they send a toll number when a corrective action via email is all that was requested? ANSWER: Because they want the caller to sink even more money into a frivolous enterprise. From other reports on Intelius I have read on this site, I would have not likely received a return call even had I coughed up the toll call expense.

Intelius is a ripoff for sure. You receive little background intelligence from Intelius.
