Does not pay employees and lies about training you

I have a problem with this company, because they are withholding wages from me after I've performed work for them. This is owned by Antonina Newhart and Andrew Newhart (married) who currently live at 3024 Kelly Ct. Aurora, Il. I believe he has a drug problem, as well as bad credit, and appears to think that he can get away with paying his employees when and if he feels like it! The business is in her name, probably due to the fact that he has such bad credit. They currently owe me approximately $1700 in wages, and I would like to go after them for whatever I can get! I am not sure what my legal rights are in this case, and they will very likely deny that they owe me money.

They are immoral, unethical, dishonest, and will very likely rehearse their stories to claim they did nothing wrong. I recently worked as a contractor for them in various capacities, and while working on voting machines I terminated my employment with them. As I attempted to submit my travelling expenses to NCS DATA, I was told to send them directly to the other company (ELECTION SYSTEMS & SOFTWARE) so this is what I did. After requesting to be paid directly for my expenses, I received an e-mail from Andrew Newhart saying that I had breached my contract with them by contacting this other company, which was what he told me to do! I have not been paid since October 2nd, and have been told to wait for my money like everyone else.
