Ripoff would not honor store credit

On August 2, I went to I Love Shoes located at 12728 Perkins Rd. Baton Rouge, LA 70810 to use a store credit (for $29.42) that was issued on July 28 for a pair of returned, barely worn shoes. The original shoes were purchased July 12, broke, and were not repairable after being worn only four times. As I entered the store, I was on my mobile phone. The associate asked if she could help and I replied just looking, she then stated let me know when you are ready and I said okay.

I proceeded on to look around for a pair of shoes that would suit my needs. I found a pair of brown sandals and requested my size, the assistant returned with the shoes stating it was the last pair. I made my way to the counter to complete my transaction. When I handed the credit receipt to her, she began to get frustrated and started questioning me about the credit and why it had been issued.

I explained to her the store manager Laura Mello gave me the credit when I returned the damaged shoes. She then began yelling about not understanding why the credit was given, and how she did not appreciate me coming into her store on my cell phone. She continued to go on and on about me talking on the phone while in her store. I then asked her if we could move past that and get on to completing the transaction. It was then when she refused to honor the credit snatched the shoebox and threw the receipt at me stating you disrespected me by coming in here on your phone and I am not honoring that credit. She proceeded to say that she was the store owner (Valerie Hill) and I would have to deal with Laura when she gets back. I questioned her about Laura's return date she walked away yelling across the room I do not know when she will be back, just keep checking.

This experience left me feeling disrespected and somewhat discriminated against. I have been in that store on several occasions and people are in and out on their mobile phones all the time, nothing has ever been said. After purchasing defective merchandise, making several trips back and forth trying to hurry to use a credit that will expire in 30 days, I was denied service because I was on a cell phone. This company has received BOTH the original payment of $29.42 and the damaged shoes which I returned. As customer, I am left with nothing but a day of disappointment and disrespect with the type of customer service I received from this company.
