Authorized Mover
Moving ripoff Charged over double quoted price and broke all committments

Shops, Products, Services

Ian, the sales representative from authorized movers quoted me a moving price of $1,280. When I called him to discuss the quote I told him I did not want to use them unless he could guarantee me that they would deliver my belongings within 2 days. He told me that 2 days would be guaranteed on my contract.

The movers showed up 5 hours late to load and charged me $175 to wrap a mattress and an additional $300 to package glass. Charges that were not previously disclosed or discussed. When I asked the mover why my delivery date wasnt written into the contract, he told me that they dont do that and then Ian would not take or return my calls. They already had all of my things on the truck and I had no choice. The driver told me he beleived we had about 4,500 pounds and I requested that he allow me to accompany him to the weigh station. He told me that he was going to a weigh station south of my location and way out of the way and I was traveling north.

I called them 11 times the next day before they finally called me back and told me that my weight for a two bedroom, one bath apartment was 7,060 pounds and that it would cost $2564 instead of the quoted $1280 which included a $75 charge for stairs which was not previously disclosed either.

And as for my promised deliver date, it's been 5 days and they have promised me next day every day including today and today, Dana in their long distance moving department told me it will be Friday, instead of the promised Tuesday when we get our things.

I told Dana in their long distance move department that I wanted my things reweighed and she basically told me to find a truck stop nearby and they would do it after I had paid them the remaining $1900 cash and they had unloaded. I asked her if we could use a weigh station and she said they dont use the weigh stations because of the inspections.

I am a single father with an 11 yr old son, who just lost a 12 yr old daughter to brain cancer 2 mos ago. These people have taken horrible advantage of me and I do intend to pursue complaints with the DOT and other appropriate concerns as soon as they do finally deliver our things.

I would appreciate any advice that anyone can provide for me.
