Managers beware:

Do not email or include on your Sat. Night reports, your vocation plans. Do not discuss them in advance with your DM. And for sure don't share them with your assistant. She may be working at another store with the DM, and discuss it with him.

Yes, I did all of the above. Then I went on vocation. All of the sudden, I was'nt allowed to take 3 days off. I would have to use a vocation day to make my 5 days for that week, I already worked my 52 hours. I suppose the DM needed that $40.00 credit on payroll, since the district is way over. Every penny counts, even at the cost of the employee. All I wanted was for payroll to credit that 1 vocation unit back to me. Needless to say, that hasn't happened yet. The DM solution to it was take a day off later and key in the hours-falsify my hours worked. This was after he had to clarify with payroll, the companies policy on managers salaries (what is required).

In the end after 4 years with family dollar, I quit that afternoon. I left a job, even though I liked it and loved the customers. I scored a 7 on my last anytime 5. The store was a stranger to bad cycle counts, missing paperwork, missed AOR's, etc. The corporate's safety inspector was out recently, his only suggestion was to keep the stock room door closed. Yes, I worked 70 hour weeks, but my store showed it, and the customers acknowledged it. Unforenetly, the DM can't see to well, or he would have read the email I have from payroll better and this issue would be over with, and I would be at a job I enjoyed.
