TXU disconnected our electricty with the temperature and heat-index over 100 degrees when our bill was only 20 days late for a little over $200.

I've been a customer for over 5 years with no previous cut-offs. I never received the original bill (which I should have realized if I was more diligent) and never received a disconnect notice in the mail.

I had to pay over $900 to get reconnected including a charge of $89 to get reconnected within 13 hours ("by 7am tomorrow morning" was the only guaranty). The amount included a deposit in excess of $500, and they only take Visa or a debit card. The power was restored quickly by a technician. It took 2:15 minutes after we paid the $900 for the technician to arrive. We were very blessed that he made it out that evening so we could sleep in our house and the food did not go bad in the refrigerator.

The customer service rep and manager were not rude but were not nice either. I was on hold for over 20 minutes in a hot house with a crying child waiting for the supervisor.

Even their own employee (who I won't name) expressed dismay that they would disconnect power on such a hot day. The person said that TXU has started using computers to automatically cut off power on delinquent accounts so there is no personal involvement. I have two small children of my own and I was babysitting two other children so it was definitely personal to me. I also have a dog who was inside the house alone when the power was disconnected.
