Ripoff Too much hype over a bad product

I signed up for service after hearing some people rave about it. From the beginning I have had problems, more problems, and more of the same problems. The phone calls wouldn't go through. Either I couldn't hear or the other party wouldn't hear, the call would simply drop while talking. Immediate dialing back would get you two rings, but when the other person picks it up, the line is totally silent. If the phones worked, the internet would be out. I would reboot the computer, and in most cases it still didn't work. Then I would pull off the internet connection from Vonage's router, connect the modem directly to the computer, and use the internet. But now I have no phone because the only way to use the phone is to use the router-adapter that Vonage sent me. Vonage customers are too familiar with the problem.

I have had to call the customer service about a dozen times, but after 9 pm or midnight in order to be able stay on the cell phone for an hour, the main phone being out of commission. The customer service would walk you through several steps and resolve the problem for the time being until you run into the same thing again. One of the diagnoses was that the frequency of VOIP and that of my phone was 2.5 mhz so they were interfering with each other. Quite recently, they sent me a newer router, but dropping of calls is still a huge problem.

The people are helpful to the extent they can. The customer service staff have limited knowledge. If they cannot solve, they pass you up to someone else, and it is only a temporary fix. They have not perfected the technology. There are lots of glitches, it is easy to blame the internet provider which they often do.

The telephone is a wonderful means of communication if it works!!! But with Vonage, I am sure I have annoyed all my friends and family and lost some of my relationships. Can you imagine depending on this phone when you are waiting to hear from your prospective employer or customer?
