A collection agency that collects, but does not forward appropriate funds to their customers ripoff

Our firm was contacted via telemarketers as a legitimate collection agency. We were given paperwork with referrals and decided to do business with Foster, Jones & Mason. We sent info on our customer, they did collect the past due account PLUS a collection fee contingent upon the sale of the property. They cashed the ENTIRE check, and have held our portion of the funds for over 120 days. If the homeowner had not contacted us, we would have NEVER known that this account was paid.

On April 17, after another threatening call made my our firm, we received a call saying they went out of business on March 31, and to do whatever we felt we needed to do. Three calls were made AFTER their close of business, and it was never mentioned that they were closing. Fraudulent promises of payment were made repeatedly, and today, their internal auditor, Tony Pates, or Tony Pace, has casually dismissed our firm with an inappropriate comment such as, "do whatever you have to do."

Everyone, BEWARE of Foster, Jones & Mason, Joey Barrett, Johnny Lee, & Tony Pace. While unlikely they will start a business again using the same company name, all aforementioned are very good at what they do, and I want everyone to know their names. They are very aggressive and have/use East coast dialect. We are filing claims with the Better Business Bureau, the State's Attorney's office in Broward County, as well as small claims court. We will do everything within our power to recoup our money.
