Baubles and Beads
Beware of Baubles and Bead in

Shops, Products, Services

There are so many bad things about this store, it is hard to know where to begin.

When I first brought clothes to this resale shop, I was told BY THE OWNER, PAULA EDWARDS, that all clothes left over 90 days would be donated to the Battered Women's Shelter here in Austin (a very worthy cause I support). So, I left my 'expired' clothes there and returned about 120 days after dropping them off. Guess what? They were still there. When I asked the girl behind the counter, she said they probably hadn't gotten around to donating them yet. So another month went by and I saw my clothes were still there. Basically the owner keeps them and sells them for her own profit. I questioned the airhead (because there is no other way to describe this girl who was behind the counter reading a book). She told me that the clothes don't go to the shelter, and that they never did. She told me they keep the clothes to sell and if they finally don't sell after about 6 months, then they give them to this random woman who comes by to pick things up. What she does with them is unknown to them. She is not affiliated with any charity from what I could get out of this girl.

So what else is wrong with the store? Well, the clothes are dirty even though they are supposed to be clean upon arrival. I went and dry cleaned all of mine which cost quite a bit and then discovered pants with DIRTY CROTCHES!!! They had a price tag of $48!!!

What else? They mark down your clothes whenever they feel like it. I brought in a VERY EXPENSIVE suit, it was originally priced in Baubles and Beads at over $100. It sold within a month for $18! No explanation. Told me it was probably DIRTY!

Please, stay away from this store. I found a great store on the other side of town called Second Time Around in little yellow house on 35th Street.
