Vacation Register International, Inc. Vacation Register False marketing misrepresentation of services timeshare misrepresentation

Shops, Products, Services

I hope that people get a chance to read this before they pay Vactaion Register to sell their timeshare. We had a terrible experience, as they did not deliver what they promised. People should also note that Vaction Register Interational, Inc. Located in Tampa which "only" has 7 BBB complaints as they will tell you, is also related to Vacation Register, Inc. Located in Largo, which has well over 100 BBB complaints, which they do not tell you.

We contacted Vacation Register to sell our time share and paid $998 upfront. We were told that we had a great property, and that it would sell within a couple of weeks, but probably that coming weekend, since they were having a "sales promotion".

In addition, they suggested that we list the property for a sales price of $29,500, which is way too high. They highball the original sales price in order to get out of any refund.

They say they'll refund your fee if another company can sell it for within 20% of the original asking price. Well, subsequently we contacted other brokers in the Lake Tahoe area (where our timeshare is located), who stated that the market price is closer to $24,000. That's a long way off. It has been 8 months, and we received one offer—for $21,000.

We are very angry at the misrepresentation of the service, the backtracking of the sales reps and customer service reps, and the rude treatment received when we called to complain. We will also be making a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
