Long story short. I defaulted on a Patelco loan and now it's been sent to a collection agency. I owed them $12,000 and now they want me to pay $1,000 a month to pay it off. One collection rep in particular has been a nightmare for me and everytime I talk to her I want to scream. She said that if I don't pay the $1k a month they will sue me and garnish my wages. I told them that I can't afford the monthly payment and asked if they is an arrangement I can set up. NO!!! I told them that I was refinancing for a cash out, so they said that if I put some money down, they'll lower the payment. Well the refinancing didn't go through, so I'm screwed. She has called my mortgage company to find out about my refinancing. She has cursed, hung up on me and threatened me with leins, garnishments, etc. Asking for my debit card number for payment.

After doing some research, I believe that she isn't even licensed in my home state. What can I do.
