We hired this company (owner HUGH MARTIN) when we moved into our home in 2003. At first everything was fine. Both Martin (and his wife who does his bookkeeping) swore to us they were keeping good records. About 1 year into the job, Martin and his employees started DISAPPEARING for weeks or months and wouldn't answer their phone calls. Leaving things like a door hanging on one screw to the outside or a window held in by a nail with outside access for anyone to break in!

He swore he had LICENSED EMPLOYEES and SWORE REPEATEDLY he would give us a contract. We were naive and he had come highly recommended! Well, about 2 years in we finally had it. He had no receipts, no contracts, nothing and he disappeared after badmouthing us and trying to start MARITAL TROUBLES with us! (none of his business) He was surly and nasty to us and unreliable. Once he was gone for 3 months we hired another contractor. WITH LICENSES AND CONTRACTS!

We have spent over $60K just finishing, correcting & fixing what we paid for. Shoddy work and off-code! We got all the proper paperwork & licenses done now. When we went to vendors to cancel work orders, we heard that Mr. Martin was out drinking again and a number of his clients had been in complain about no-shows or shoddy work. He was cashing checks through his wife's job at a local BAR! Wife tried to say she NEVER told us she keeps records. LIE AGAIN! Phone number changes monthly - probably from creditors!

Martin finally showed up almost 1 year later - AFTER he had clumsily broken his leg falling down an open basement cover on a local street - on crutches - in an obvious effort to evoke sympathy. His employees didn't speak well of the guy.

WHO CARES! JOB POORLY DONE. No licenses. Lies, money stolen. We would love to recover some or all of the $60K we lost and put this jerk out of business.
