Sears Gold Master Card
Ripoff

I have been using Sears Premier Card for years now. I never had problems with that one; however in February I was being offered -I understood - an upgrade to my current card. The amount I spent at that visit to Sears was around $50.00.

Some time in April I received a letter from Citi Cards stating that I have passed due 30 days for my Sears Gold Card. I called the number indicated on the statement and the lady told me that I actually had opened a new credit card and it is not connected to the Premier Card, whatsoever. I told her that I had not received any previous statements or bills and I asked to pay for the amount, which I did and I was told everything was zeroed on my account. After that I have received a Sears gold CC but I never activated it and never wanted to use it.
Yesterday (10/10/05) I received the same statement-passed due 39 days and have to pay now $86.00. My credit report alert sent me a message that Citi Card had actually reported this amount as passed due 30 days. I called them again, spoke with 3 different persons and never managed to straight the thing up. I actually had to pay the whole amount plus the passed due fee and on top of that I will receive the residual interest in November (because I entered the new billing cycle by 9 days).in the end I managed to cancel the card, but I ended up paying more than twice the amount I had spent.

It bothers me that they would not have decency to acknowledge that they had never sent any bill or that they billed me twice for the same amount. The lady from the collection department was extremely rude and not helpful. The other two reps have just transferred my call and did not even want to discuss it with me. When I asked for a manager, they refused to put me through.
