Fujicolor Processing
Lost my irreplaceable pictures!

Shops, Products, Services

My goal is to inform EVERYONE about the risks of using Fujicolor Processing Labs for picture developing.

This summer my son and I went on vacation to Louisiana to see my family, whom we had not seen in a year and a half. While there, as any normal person would do, we took pictures. When I got back to Alaska I dropped off the film at a local Wal-Mart store for processing.

Imagine my surprise when I picked up the pictures a few days later... The film had been developed, and the price on the envelope was $9.86, but the envelope was completely empty! No pictures, no cartridge, not even an index print so I could have seen what I was supposed to get! So I contacted the Fuji lab in Oregon and spoke to a customer service agent named Lia. She took a description of what was on the roll of film and said that she would search through the loose rolls of unclaimed prints to see if she could find my pictures.

Now, this to me indicates that this is not a one-time incident... How many others have had their precious memories lost by this company? Well, today I got a letter from Lia apologizing for them LOSING MY PICTURES, along with a free roll of film and a certificate for free processing.

Couple of problems here.
1. The film was the cheapest one made... 200 speed 35 mm. My camera is APS.
2. Do they actually think I will make the same mistake twice? I will NEVER again use Fujicolor Processing.

Not that I expect them to actually pay for their loss. Let's see... Plane tickets for me and my son were $1100, and my two weeks of unpaid vacation were $1360, and the film and processing that were lost cost about $15. That comes to $2475. And they sent me a $3 roll of film that I can't use and free processing that I WON'T use.

Seems to me they fell a little short.

They lost irreplaceable memories, and to even try to recreate those photos would cost me at least $2475. And even though I sent them an invoice, I'm pretty sure they won't pay.

So PLEASE send this to everyone you know and ask them to send it to everyone they know! I am also putting up flyers on every public bulletin board I can find warning people about Fujicolor Processing, and posting a complaint online at usacomplaints.com.

I believe all Wal-Mart stores are contracted with Fujicolor. If you normally use Wal-Mart for your film developing, I urge you to use their one-hour service so that your pictures will not be sent to this lab. You could end up losing your irreplaceable photos!
