Sold me an airconditioner that only worked 1 season, and won't stand behind product, ripoff!

I purchased an 18,000 btu airconditioner from Sears June. It was used 3 months before the hot season was over. It worked for 1 day this year and then broke.
Sears will not pay to have it repaired, but will charge me a minimum of $98.00 to have it looked at and then parts will be extra. Because I was fairly certain what the problem might be, I orderd the part. They then sent me the wrong part!
What is worse, now I have to pay to have it sent back. I will not reccomend purchasing appliances from Sears, they do not stand behind their appliances. 3 months of usage and now broke is sad.
