Money taken from account, false info given, lots of run around

I was contacted by phone by person from Buyers Union saying I had been chosen to recieve 200 dollars in grocery rebates completly free to me if I would look at thier program, it would cost 3.95 for shipping and I would have ten business days to reply or cancel.

Was hesitant to give check acct # asked to give credit card #, they said must be check acct, I told them that I was on social security and a fixed income and would be in great difficulty if money taken before I had a chance to approve or to not take offer.

Was assured that would not happen, three days later I recieved overdraft from my Bank, called company very upset and canceled and asked for them to put it back in my acct, they refused said I must file letter asking for refund, it took a month before I recieved the letter, filed report, and numerous phone calls to said company have been a waste of time.

What a ripoff! Last called 6-3-05 was told to call back tomorrow i should get check before then and I had called just a couple days ago and they couldn't talk to me until tomorrow.
