Corrupted Manager Coverup

My girlfriend got a second job at circle k during the night shift as a cashier and everything else. She wanted to finish paying off some hospital bills asap.

She has been working for a very respectable satellite company for many years. About two weeks into the circle k job, the manager, julie, approached her and asked her to sign a paper saying she was short forty dollars the day before.

Being that my girl has been working with respectable people on her other job, she asked to review the records to see where she was short. The manager told her that was impossible because there were too many transactions to go over. She assured my girl that nothing would come out of her signing that paper, so she signed.

Two weeks after that, the manager approached her again with another paper to sign, this time it was for over $100. My girlfriend again requested to go over the paperwork from the day before. The manager told her again that it was impossible to see any records, that she had to just sign because she was the new kid on the block and assured her that nothing would happen to her.

The manager told her that if a new employee is working with an employee that had more time one the job, then the new employee would have to take the blame for any money missing.

Since my girl could not bare being labled as a thief, she quit the job on the spot. Later on we visited the store and told the employee who replaced my girl what had happened. She told us that she also had been forced to sign those letters by the manager several times. Question is, who is taking the money?
