Landlord Deposit Scam, Extortion and Misrepresentation. Excessive damage charges, threatening notes and calls and more. Criminals!

Clarence Sewell, Lisa Crawford and Cayman Realty are crooks who deceive, threaten, lie and rob people of their deposits by blatantly lying about damages that were actually caused by faulty installation on their part or damages that didn't even exist to begin with. They have tried to extort money from me and my father by leaving a threatening note on my door saying they are going to call him. Why? I'm 25 years old, he was listed as my emergency contact, that's it. They even informed him that my girlfriend was pregnant. Why?
These people have a long court history and have sued over 30 people that have moved out in the past 4 years. These are 2 small rental buildings with 12 apts in each and are hellholes that are claimed to be energy efficient in their advertising but in fact are ripoffs. For a small 2 bedroom apt my avg electric bill was over $120 per month.

Here are some examples of their blatant lies and overcharges.

1. They claim the faucet in the bathroom was broken. Not True! There was a screw missing from the handle on the hot water side so that handle was a bit loose, that's it! Faucet was perfectly clean and functioning. They charged $62.50 for this faucet. This was a lie to begin with and to top it off it was an off brand no name piece of crap, no fixture in that bathroom cost $62.50.

2. The mini blinds they installed were too big for the window so after time they bent near the edges and broke off, this is faulty installation and not our fault at all. They were informed of the problem a long time ago and did nothing to fix it. We were charged $75 per blind for several blinds.

3. There were two small, quarter sized holes in the wall. I fixed them up properly and they still charged $75 per hole. No way. The walls are paper thin to begin with and I patched them up just fine.

4. They charged over $750 for cleaning! The apt was entered before the lease expired by landlord. Door to apt was also left wide open for several days after moving out. Anyone could have entered and done damage. The apt's were very clean when moved out of and nothing more than routine maintainance was needed on them. I run a cleaning company myself, I know what is clean and what isn't and that place was clean. A few spots on the carpet were there when I moved in and they claimed it needed cleaned 3 times for over $200... These people need to be stopped. They do this to most people that move out that they think have money.

5. They claimed I bounced a check one month and called my dad, who was listed as my emergency contact. My dad promptly cut them a check and it was given to them. Thing is, it happened on a day where I couldn't contact my bank and when I talked to them the next day I found out my check hadn't bounced at all. I contacted Lisa and she said it was a mistake and oops... Yeah right, this was the beginning of their extortion! They then tried several times to get me to buy multi million dollar apt buildings from them because they found out my dad has money! They left a threatening note saying they would call my dad if i did not pay them for the damages they lied about to begin with. I still have the note as I knew I would need it someday.

6. I could go on and on and on and on and on... Go to the Iowa Court Records Search and check for Clarence Sewell and or lisa Crawford, Cayman Construction... There are over 40 total cases where they've been sued or have sued, in the past 4 years! Johnnie Cochran doesn't even go to court that much.

*Don't ever rent from this man as your life will become a nightmare*
There is much more than I've listed, if anyone can help me please let me know as I want to take him down and make sure he stops screwing people out of their money. He's trying to screw me out of almost $2,000! Criminals!
When we called to refute the charges Lisa Crawford hung up on us. How professional is that. They also at one point derogatory comments to my girlfriend and I living together out of wedlock. That is none of their business and is highly unprofessional.
These people need to be stopped before the ruin any more lives.
