Ripoff! Trying to break free!

In I spent hundreds of dollars on a sprint phone, accessories, activation fee's, etc., only because I was assured I could use the phone & service down in Mexico. I was assured, over & over that it would work.

Obviously, it didn't. I went online, when I reached my destination only to discover the message that told me that in order to log on to their site, they would have to call me back on my phone and give me my password... But the phone didn't work!

I was in Mexico for six months and when I got back to the states I discovered they had billed me for the six months and when I explained the situation, more than one person told me I would have to eat the bills... I kept on fighting for what seemed like weeks on hold until I finally got someone who saw the logic of my side, the customers side...

They finally credited my account and I stuck with them. As a disabled person I needed some form of communication that would liberate me from sitting next to a landline in case of an emergency.

Living on a fixed income, in a mobile home (affordable housing), I could'nt afford wireless & landline. I live in the mountains, land of dropped calls, and because the mobile home is pretty much constructed with metal materials, the wireless signal gets lost... But I signed a contract, can you hear me now?

I return to Mexico every year for six months to visit my wife's family. Sprint charges me $8.00 a month to maintain my account, but when I re-activate they automatically sign me to another two year comittment. It's been five years now and I don't know how to break free from them... I just wrote them a letter telling them that my state has laws protecting the disabled from rip-offs, of which they qualify, but from the letters I've seen here, I'm in for a battle... Suggestions??
