Market Pantry Drinking Water Bottle Defects - MARKET PANTRY Purified Drinking Water (16.9 OZ bottles, Qty 24) 0-85239-60120-4

Shops, Products, Services

We recently purchased at Target Market Pantry purified Drinking Water (24 bottles at 16.9 Oz) Target bar code label is 0-85239-60120-4. There was no problem with the water inside, but the "eco-friendly" bottles are NOT "customer friendly"!

Both my wife and I had trouble removing the mini-sized caps. The caps would not budge and the little tickmarks on the side of the cap bit into our hands almost drawing blood. I had to finally grab a pair of mechanics pliers from my toolbox to open the bottles. Even if you can open the bottle with your hands, the tight grip required squeezes the bottle and water spirts out on you. I would not have been able to open this bottle in my car or at a campsite. This product is especially disfunctional for older customers or children.

Here's WHAT'S WRONG with the so called "eco caps" design: (1) the caps are only 8mm in height so there is not enough gripping surface to hold which requires a tighter grip to open the bottle, (2) the milled edges with small ticks (rather than larger ones) bite into your hand to the point of breaking the skin of older users, (3) the security retainer ring under the cap is too securely fastended to the cap, (4) the tiny screw contact surface between the cap and bottle is too small so cap turns only a fraction of a turn to open which requires a tighter tension on the few threads. Note: even after opening the bottle and using the water, the replaced cap on the empty bottles was still hard to open!

The bottom line is: PACKAGING MATTERS! Only purchase from suppliers that offer bottle caps that are 1/2" (12.5mm). The effect on the environment of using the 1/2" cap vs. The 5/16" (8mm) is negligible and the benefit to your customers of the taller caps is HUGE. I am willing to PAY A HIGHER price for the greater convenience and and wear on my hands. Please tell your suppliers that the "eco caps" are a bumber.
