Company Of, - Terrible Customer Service

DeLuca Gas Company of Salida, Colorado has a terrible way of doing business. On a rental home, they will not allow a scheduled account to be set up unless you have a credit card & will only deliver 100 gallons minimum.

I got off work 10 miinutes early to try to get 100 gallons of propane on Friday, 02/01 only to find that they closed before 5:00 pm. At that time I had 15% propane in a 250 gallon tank.

Monday, 02/04, My husband took off work early & paid $89.00 in cash for 100 gallons of propane. They were told that we have a minimal amount in the tank. He was told that they could not deliver it until Tuesday.

At 12 noon I checked the tank & found 6% propane. I called DeLuca Gas & told them that I had only 6%, & a new furnace & wasn't sure 6% was enough to get by on. I had seen the driver 2 blocks away & asked that they deliver it that day. I was told that 6% was plenty & that my furnace could run on FUMES if it got too low. I insisted that I would sleep better if the tank had propane that day as it was paid for. He assurred me again that 6% was enough for 2 or more days.

Tuesday at 12noon, I went home & it was 56 degrees in my home.
DeLuca had brought the propane at 9am & left me a note under the cover of the atank lid (outside) that said "TANK EMPTY-SERVICE VALVE SHUT OFF AT TANK".
I called & asked what that meant & was told "you need to go out & turn the valve on the tank". I asked why it was shut off & they replied it was the law on an empty tank. (A TANK THEY ASSURED ME THE DAY BEFORE HAD ENOUGH PROPANE TO LAST 2 DAYS)

Then they told me I had to relight my pilots too. I asked what would have happened if it was below freezing out & the pipes burst from no heat? I was told it would have been my responsibility! I could not turn the valve on the tank-it was too tight & I could only relight my stove top pilots.

I think they sould have called my (yes they have 2 #'s) & informed me that they had to shut off the propane to the house. If I hadn't gone home at 12 noon, my home would have been 40 degrees by 5:30 pm. My animals would have been cold & my pipes might have froze.
