Customer service rip off

My problem was when I wanted to get my service switched from the former city I was living in to the new city I move to.

First, I already had minutes on my phone from my previous purchased that I hadn't used up.
I called customer service to tell them that I want to switch numbers so I had the proper area code, they informed me that it would cost $27.89 plus tax.
I said that would be fine, and I also asked would I have to pay up front or would I have to pay on my next month billing.

I was told that I would have to pay next month.
That was my first mistake with them, I should have paid upfront because as soon as I got off the phone with them, my cell phone was off.

I called back to ask what had happen and they told me that it would take an hour or so before the switch would come into effect. I waited for the hour and no service.
I then called back again and checked my service and this time they told me I owed the $27.89 and could not get any service until I paid that upfront.

I explained to them what I was told before and they said that was wrong, and I told them fine I would pay with my checking account online.

I did that the same day and still I had no service, they said it takes longer with a check online. I said ok.
I waited for 7 days and still no service, my statement came out and they had deducted the money from my account on the same day I called them and held my money for that entire month without restoring my service.
They then charged me for the next month's service, and deducted that from my account.

When I called back they told me they knew nothing of the deduction and I had to send proof, so I faxed them a copy of my statement but, still I had no service.
The next day they sent me an email saying thankyou for the payments but still they hadn't switched on my phone or switched my number.

All in all I paid for two months of service and the switching fee and still I have no phone service.
