Livingsocial does not issue refunds/credit when a merchant screws up - online vouche

I bought a voucher for an in-home massage. I booked weeks in advance and arranged my schedule accordingly. I got an email from the company the morning of the appointment, saying that they didn't have a therapist available. I was upset and didn't want to reschedule, having no faith that they would keep the appointment and not waste my time again. As far as I'm concerned, I should get a refund or a credit if the merchant doesn't keep their end of the bargain. Livingsocial refused to issue a refund or credit. I have had problems in the past with other Groupon-type products/services and I have always received a refund or credit when a product didn't arrive. Livingsocial was inflexible and I will never do business with them again. They suck.
