We dont care, we're the phone company

For over a year sbc could not remove services i did not request! Since the first bill at this new house sbc added linebacker service (inside wire care) to my bill.

Every month i would call them to get this removed, and an operator would promise to remove it, every month it was there.

I spoke with department heads etc and always the same schmeel "were sorry, we will remove this and credit your bill". Liars!!!

The last straw was when i got my bill and not only did
they remove linebacker the removed the package plan (wich does not have to include linebacker) completely and charged me full price for every phone call since getting service at this address.

Well thats it i canceled the phone and went cellular.

2 weeks and the line is still on! Over the course of the next 4 months i called numerous times to repeat my cancel order but they refused to shut it off.

They continued to bill me even though i had physicaly cut the wire at the pole and definitly had no service.

Now they have numerous collections after me (for service i canceled but the refused to shit off).

My credit report is tarnished and there is nothing i can do. How does one fight a giant monopoly? (yes they are a monopoly the own all the phone lines and u still have to use them even if you get a different phone company)
