Rude Rudys
Acial discrimination at a local college club on campus

I am a student a Georgia Southern University and there is a local club on campus called rude rudys which uses dress codes to discriminate against minorities. On 2-13-09 me and a couple of my friends tried to enter rude rudys when the bouncer immediately turned us away, claiming our cloths did not adhere to the establishment's dress code. We were all wearing dress business casual according to the dress code. They wouldn’t let [my friend] in because his sleeve went past his elbows. White patrons inside the nightclub dressed in similar attires and where not turn away and many others were let in without dress attire on at all. Some where wearing shorts and tennis shoes on and flip flops and were let in and here we were dressed in business collard shirts and dress shoes and were denied access. This is not the first time I felt I was discriminated at this club because one this bouncer kicked out some minorities at the club the bouncer came back and kicked me out with them b/c I was the only other minority near them and they claimed that I was apart of the group and was drinking with them. The bouncer claimed he saw me buy them drinks which is absurd because I was out side the whole time and didn't even approach the bar all night b/c I don't drink plus I didn't even know the guys that got kicked out. Apparently, I am not the only one that has had this happen to them at rudys, because other people I feel that I need to expose this club for their discriminatory business practices and I don't know how I can get my voice heard and shut places like this down especially since it is in a college town where young people may be affected by these things.
