Whirlyball Dallas
Ripoff inopearative equipment & overcharging

Recreation & Entertainment

I booked & signed contract for 2 hours of Whirlyball for Saturday, 9/24/05. Contract reads that if you cancel the day of then the total is charged with re-scheduling so when it was predicted that we would have a hurricane on 9/24/05 with 50-75mph wind then I contacted them on 9/22/05 & requested that they allow me to wait till the morning of 9/24/05 to change my reservation if the hurricane did hit. I had over 50 people invited to this event & I didn't want to have to change the date until the last minute.

They wouldn't work with me. I was told "we are an inside facility". I tried to persuade them that noone would come to this event if infact we did have 50-75mph wind but they wouldn't budge. I was given no choice so I rescheduled the event for Saturday, 10/1. I was charged 1/2 the fee of $161.00 on Friday, 9/23/05. The contract reads that I would be charged 1/2 on the day of the scheduled event which was 9/24/05 if I rescheduled.

Therefore, they didn't follow their own terms when they charged me the 1/2 on the day before.
On 10/1/05 we showed up at 3pm (our scheduled time) and noone was at the counter. We waited for about 10 minutes & someone finally showed up. We requested to begin to play even though we were short 2 players. Noone came to start our game so I went again to the counter around 3:15 & requested that we get to begin to play. We began to play around 3:20 with only 8 players. (because of the change of date we only had a total of 15 people show & for the record if I had been allowed to wait till the morning of 9/24 then we wouldn't have had to cancel because the hurricane didn't hit Dallas). 1 of the cars was not operating at all... It simply wouldn't run. 1 other car wasn't running well.

They worked on the 1 car that wasn't running while the game continued. It was difficult to play the game while the car was worked on in the court area where the game is played. After a while, I requested that they give us a break & stop our 2 hour clock & repair the car. They agreed but we didn't get back the extra time that was used to repair the car that wasn running. Again, the 2 cars weren't running properly (1 wouldn't run at all) so again I requested that our time be stopped while they repaired the cars.

Bottomline, we were charged 1/2 of the total fee (323.67 total fee for 2 hours) one day earlier than the contract read for rescheduling because they wouldn't work with us (with a predicted hurricane due they day we were booked) & we were charged for 2 hours when our true play time was approximately 1 hour & 20 minutes. Also, at the end the manager offered 1 more 8 minute game & 10% off the price. When I went to pay then the 10% was only taken off the other 1/2 due... Which equaled 5% off. Also, the counter where the cokes & drinks were to be bought never had anyone there. We had to stand at the counter until we were noticed. Several times that I went to the counter I would wait as long as 5 mintues to get served. I feel very ripped off & still can't believe that they wouldn't work with us on the scheduling even with a Hurricane predicted!
