I had 2 carpets installed last year with Empire. I choose them after using them for another bedroom carpet. That carpet was great. It is stain resistant and liquid beads up if spilled. So I repeated the experience. I explained to the sales man that I needed something that would not bother my cat and they would not damage if they needed it. He told me this was the best carpet and if my cat had an accident, as long as we caught it, the urine would stay on top and not sink to the pad and it would still smell fresh. I was also concerned about picking a light color carpet in my daughters room. He assured me it is stain resistant. Now one year later, my daughter has a stain I cannot get out (I tried the day it happened - dirty shoes) and my carpet is being ripped out. There was such a strong chemical smell that the cat had an accident that seemed right to the pad. I was there to catch it but couldn't get the smell out. The carpet also wore down really quickly. You can see where we walk into the bedroom (and we don't wear shoes in my room). Long story short - Empire offered to replace my carpet for the cost of labor. I explained that i would have the same issues and would prefer laminate. They offered me a small discount that anyone would get (1600 for under 200 sq feet). I offered to pay labor and excess material (carpet - laminate). No one will answer me and my facebook posts get deleted. I just wanted to resolve this and make it right!
