Illegal Practices?

I received a notice on Thursday stating that my home was not approved for a home modification because it was not my primary residence, but that I could pursue other options - including a short sale. On a previous call to Green Tree (a few days before), I stated that I was not fully moved out yet and that a lot of my things were still in the home. I explained to them that I would contact a real estate agent as soon as I was moved out in order to begin the sale of my home. After receiving the letter on Thursday stating I did not qualify for a modification, Green Tree changed the locks to my house and entered the property on Friday or Saturday because when my husband showed up on Sunday morning, the back gate was open and the home was in disarray. I did not receive a letter giving me a date to move-out by or any other notice. The person on the phone told me I had until approximately the end of March or maybe more to start working with a realtor and move my things out, but they broke into my home within 1 or 2 days of my receipt of the letter. I have paid the home for 10 years, I was only 1 month late on the mortgage. Is it legal for them to break into the home without any notice?
