Loss of rent blamed on tenant moving out

Remained in Balwin Qualities rental in Van Buuren Estates Bedfordview, never resigned my twelve months rent so we instantly went onto month-by-month rental contract. Got shattered into at 5am, authorities suggested more burglar bars, requested Balwin properties, refused instantly by email, transferred out following day and required return of deposit (as sensible request improved protection wasn't recognized), simply gotten email (4 weeks later), no-return of deposit and invoicing me for lack of occupancy for 4 weeks in the Chairman of Balwin Qualities.
