Kitchen pipe burst and ruined my persiun rug that was brand new

I reported a leak to the landlord uner my kitchen sink. After several requests to fix it i went to work on 10/29/8 and at 3 am that night the pipes burst because of the rust and lack of maintence. My apartment had a half of foot of water through the entire place. I woke up steve the asst mgr he came over turned off the water which was hot water and yellow in color. He tried to get most of the water up with a wet vac but my persiun rug was so wet it would not dry it is a 1300.00 rug and i want it reptlaced. Nouri the owner of the property doesnt feel that he should have to replace my property. Please help
