Still haven't received our apartment deposit back

Real Estate

We are a group of 4 South African students who leased apartment in Maryland. We entered into the lease on 12/10. The initial agent that we dealt with was Joshua. However, upon entering into the month of January we were surprised to find out that the lease was monthly. We were initially misunderstood, being led on that we could renew the lease weekly, however this was only for payment methods. Upon clarifying with the manager, we were allowed to terminate our lease on the 15th of January with $651 captured for the month of January. We were assured that the $651 would be the last of our payments in terminating the contract, which we signed to end the lease on 15th January instead of 31st January. He gave us the details of Angel Phillips and assured us that she would be our go to person to contact from then on. However, when the last occupant left the apartment (by the 01/15), he was given a document stating that the remainder of the month (till 01/31) was deducted from the $675 deposit fee on the apartment, with a further $19 owed to Southern Management. After emailing Angel at least 10 times over months, I still have not received my $675 deposit.
