We purchased Colonial Home Warranty last Oct, after having Allied Home warranty for over 3 years. Allied encouraged their customers to have their a/c/heating unit checked every Spring and Winter, by only charging $60.00 copay to have the service provider out to check the unit. I did not keep my paperwork that it was serviced. Our outside unit went out 8 months after our being a customers of Colonial, it was out for 6 days, as they wanted me to provide maint. Records. Now, their own service man (whom they contract with) did not say my unit was neglected, abused or anything, just that the pressures were low and the unit was going out! Colonial hide behind their line 14 in the contact, which reads, they have the right to request service records. Had I known they would, I would not have stayed with them because I did not have them. Colonial denied the claim, of course they don't want to pay for any repairs that are significant. THEY HAVE OVER 35O complaints at the Houston BB in over 1 year and 250 are for service complaints! Buyer beware. if you don't have your service records, (maint) then don't buy a home warranty from colonial, if you have a claim, they will deny it! And hide behind line 14 of the contract!!! After all, when they are collecting $500.00 plus dollars per year from innocent homeowners, and you only use it once, they are making a fortune when they deny our claims and hide behind their line 14! Another thing, if you chose to go to arbitration, you are only entitled to $1500.00 compensation... I tried to contact their management, however, you can't reach ANYONE by phone, only their customer service (no one else, not ever a supervisor) if you want mgmt. You have to email (which they don't reply too) or US MAIL! Shysters they are!!
