Federal tax refund of 3,000 taken over disputed student loan

My income tax was taken from me for something I did not do or have, and yet I still get no answers from either agency regarding this.

The Department of Education took 3,000 of my tax return and told me I went to school last year and the year before and defaulted on the loan. Before they even wanted to know my problem, they wanted me to update my address.

1) I was on the road the last 2 years as an over the road truck driver.

2) They told me my address has been updated from an address that I have never lived at. I did not even live in that town.

I explained this to the woman on the phone. She was rude, did not want to hear anything that I was saying, and told me that if I wanted to appeal it, I should find a lawyer and pay 5000 to get my 3000 back. I stated that it was nonsense, and she said I would not win anyway because they are the federal government and they can do whatever they want.

Then last week I got a letter from American Education Services stating that they had requested a suspend order from my offset that I never owed. 2 days later my state refund came in. Figuring they had come to their senses, I waited a week and then called them about my federal return. They told me they requested the suspend order due to the fact that the payment for this year has been made, and that I will go through this again next year if I do not tell them where I work so they can garnish my wages, because I am an independent contractor and therefore pay taxes when I file at the beginning of the year. I explained that I did not owe this and that I wanted to fax in my complaint. The man said I could try, but it would not work. He said I will "JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR."

Is this how Obama is going to run this country? Is it okay for the government to STEAL the average American's money to pay back for something that the government messed up in the first place? If this is how this country is going to be run, why in the world would someone want to try to live here? I am so disgusted with this country and with them stealing my hard-earned money. I am not living in this country by choice.

So, for all of you out there who are going through this now, take some great advice: do not call anyone, do not try to fight it, do not do anything about it, because they are the new government and they can do whatever they want. They know all we will do is shut up and live with it, because trying to get a better life here is IMPOSSIBLE, and going to another country that will treat you right is an even more IMPOSSIBLE task.

The government is out to take it to the average hard-working American, and they will get away with it. They know they will, because they are the government and they can do whatever they want and nobody will stop them. This is the way we are leaving this country for our children. Someone should start apologizing to the kids now and pray for forgiveness, because this country is as bad as Iraq and the rest of the third world countries.
