Lost all contacts on phone and cannot re-add them

I have the Lg Optimus from Metro, I got to say it's the worst phone ever along with metro's service, I lost all my contacts and everytime I try to re-add them it still says I have no contacts. I've only had the phone for about 8 months. I am taking the phone back to the store if they do not somehow repair the phone I'll probably switch to a different phone company.
