My 50", 3 year old plasma TV has a veritical line running from top to bottom. I paid $75 for Samsung to send a technician to spend five minute determining that the panel needs replacing and that it is an "operational defect, " not to be confused with a manufacturing defect.

Samsung's best answer is a $300 rebate for the repair or a 10% rebate on a new TV. It is ridiculous that such an expensive item lasts only 3 years. This is a problem that, based upon my internet research and reading posts to their facebook page, is fairly common. Additionally, it wasn't until I'd made it through their Executive Customer Service and moved on to facebook that I was offered the rebate option.

It was presented as something they don't do for everyone, but I noticed others on the facebook page had been offered the same thing.

Additionally, if this isn't a known issue, why even have the rebate option? Samsung does not stand behind their products!
