Boingo Wireless
Deception at airports

Miscellaneous

My 15 year old son paid for Boingo to access the internet in a Chicago airport last March to kill time during a layover between flights. I was reviewing my credit card statement for December and noticed a charge for $9.95 for Boingo. I looked back through statements and found they had been charging me $9.95 every month since March. My son understood the service to be a one time fee for a one day opportunity to get on the internet. He never used it again. We called Boingo and explained the situation and were told they would refund two months of the charges even though my son understood the use to be for a single day. I believe Boingo is a good service with a bad business practice. I believe they are taking advantage of people by letting them think one thing and then doing something else. It would seem they would make good money serving the public with the one day service without the need to stretch it further.
