Miscellaneous

I signed up to a free trial sample of the Slimvida product, but had to give my card details to pay a small amount for post and package, but before completing the transaction, I clicked on the link to their terms and conditions. The link failed to work, but I decided to carry on and deal with that issue later. However, on the following page, I was expected to re-enter my card details and this time, I was able to read the ts&cs. After wading through a lot of legalese, I found a reference to the free trial which confirmed my suspicions. If I failed to cancel, a repeat order for almost £70 would be billed to my card every month thereafter. At this point I realised that I had been caught and had every expectation that I would be unable to contact the company on the phone number provided. I went no further with the offer and immediately emailed them stating that I wanted to cancel the offer and absolutely forbade them from debiting my card. A message came back later acknowledging receipt, but stating that my message would not be read and proving a phone number to call. I later accessed Scambook and problems with contacting the company were confirmed by the many complaints I read therein. I have now asked my credit card company to block any attempt to debit my card, but they said they could not, and the only option was to cancel the card and issue another. So that's where I stand. I now have to wait 7 to 10 days to get another card, and all because of a scummy U.S. Company trying to cheat people, presumably because they know their product is rubbish and won't sell if presented honestly.
