Sears
Sears Kenmore Pro Duel Fuel Range dangerous. Catches Fire! - Kenmore Pro Dual Fuel Range

Miscellaneous

We purchased a 30" Dual Fuel Kenmore Pro Range a few years ago. About two months ago the range started smelling (electrical) funny. The only thing we were using the range for was boiling some water on one of the burners. After ten minutes or so, the range gave off some loud electrical sapping noises and actually caught fire on the rear right side. We weren't able to get into the unit to actually put out the flames but we moved the stove out from it's sopt in the cabinets. The flames burned themselves out. I immediately called Sears to report the incident and was advised that a repairman couldn't come for three weeks. I made the appointment but needing our range, I took the back off and found that a motor attached to a fan had caught fire. I removed the unit and ordered a new one and cancelled the appointment with service. The part arrived in reasonable time but was damaged in shipping because the part had no packing material in the box to protect it. We called Sears... Got an RA and returned the part. We were also assured that they were sending the new part that day. It's been over two weeks and all we get is the run around when we inquirer about when we can expect to get the part. The lessons here? Don't buy Sears products if you need service.
